This video was posted by a Psismic member and I thought it really reflects the kind of people you meet on here.  It's definitely not your typical "hey baby" relationship site.  These are real people, with real depth.

Warren Buffett's Op-Ed in the NYT.  If you have cash lying around, these are crazy buying opportunities.  There are energy trusts with 20% dividend yields right now...
“Normal is getting dressed in clothes that you buy for work and driving through traffic in a car that you are still paying for - in order to get to the job you need to pay for the clothes and the car, and the house you leave vacant all day so you can afford to live in it.”
Ellen Goodman
Ah Taleb...how fantastic are you!
“We refused to touch credit default swaps. It would be like buying insurance on the Titanic from someone on the Titanic.”
Nassim Taleb

This is a Canadian show where aspiring entrepreneurs get to pitch their ideas to a panel of 5 investors.  If the investors like the idea, they make a deal on the spot.  It's pretty fantatstic and they actually put the whole episodes online each week.

Enjoy!

Psismic really believes that Dating Should Be Fun!  We want our home page to reflect that!  We hope you think it's fun (and cute, but mainly fun!).

Darren & Team Psismic

Thanks to Mark Brooks at Online Personals Watch for mentioning Psismic on his site and on Tech Crunch!

Psismic thinks Mark Brooks Rocks!

The updates...they keep on coming!

Ok folks, we've rolled out the complete new feature set on Psismic.  You can now request a match with any Psismic member, you can see all their posts and the posts they like, oh and now, when you go to view a post, you can see other Psismic members who like it!

It's all part of our goal of making Psismic work fabulously well to help you meet new and interesting people!

Let us know what you think,

It was a small fish, but it fought like a champion. Yesterday I talked to Psismic, they are releasing a bunch of new features this week. I like the idea of capturing your lifestream, but is it enough to get people to share their information at yet another site? Facebook Connect to the rescue, perhaps.

Psismic says thanks David!

Psismic Gets an Update!

Team Psismic has been working hard to gather feedback from our thousands of wonderful members throughout our first two months here.  We always love hearing thoughts and comments and suggestions!

We'll be releasing an update in the next few days to incorporate some of these ideas.  We are most excited about a new "match me to this person" feature and a move from 10 Daily Posts to the ability to see a "Post Stream".

Keep the feedback coming and keep having fun here at Psismic!

The Broken Window Effect
So if you have read Malcolm Gladwell's "The Tipping Point" you are familiar with the concept of the Broken Window Effect.  Essentially, a lot of crime in New York City can theoretically be connected to neighborhoods with a lot of "broken windows" or graffiti, or whatever.  It's as if seeing that this type of behavior is tolerated, condones and encourages it.  That's why we are trying to grow the Psismic community slowly and deliberately.  We want to offer daters something unique, something that's not about flashing banana emoticons.  It's not that these things are "bad", they just aren't the community we're creating here.
Frustrating the Typical "Dating Site Guy"...

We get a lot of emails from new Psismic users asking why they can't search through members or contact people right away.  I send them a brief explanation of how Psismic works and they almost always tell me how fresh and innovative it is...I think they realize that we've made the process intentionally difficult for the typical "Dating Site Guy" who signs up and emails every girl hoping that the numbers work in his favor for an easy hook up.  Psismic members have to show some personality and they have to have some skills to woo each other. It works fabulously well for people seeking actual relationships... not so much for the one night stand seeking "Dating Site Guy".

Thanks to Psismic Member Stardust for posting this incredibly addicting game.  The office record stands at 21.
